THE DESIGN STORY BEHIND IRIDESCENT AFFAIR.

Every editorial begins with a single idea.

For Iridescent Affair, that idea was neither a venue nor a colour palette, but a fabric.

The project was sparked by an iridescent linen discovered during the creative development process. Its luminous surface shifted with the light, revealing different shades of blush, rose, pearl and soft coral throughout the day. It possessed a fluid quality that felt both playful and sophisticated, becoming the foundation upon which the entire design narrative was built.

Rather than selecting décor elements first and assigning a linen afterwards, the process unfolded in reverse. The fabric became the starting point, informing every subsequent creative decision.

What began as a single material ultimately evolved into a complete wedding world — one centred around colour, texture, movement and light.

The Concept

The vision behind Iridescent Affair was to create an atmosphere that felt dreamlike yet contemporary; romantic without becoming overly traditional.

Inspired by the reflective quality of the linen, the editorial explored the relationship between sunlight and texture. The intention was to create a setting that transformed throughout the day, allowing colours to appear differently depending on the angle of the light and the viewer's perspective.

Rather than relying on a strict palette, the design embraced subtle shifts between blush pink, soft coral, pearl, ivory and sky blue, creating a layered visual experience that felt organic and effortless.

The result is a celebration that embraces colour without excess, elegance without formality and romance without cliché.

The Design Story

Once the linen had been selected, every design decision was made in conversation with it.

The floral concept was developed to echo the fabric's fluidity and iridescent quality. Sculptural anthuriums, delicate garden roses and elegant calla lilies introduced movement, shape and texture while maintaining a soft, romantic palette. Rather than competing with the statement linen, the flowers were designed to complement and elevate it.

The stationery followed the same philosophy. Soft pink typography, romantic flourishes and unexpected blue lace detailing introduced another layer of colour while remaining connected to the editorial's playful yet refined atmosphere.

The reception table became the visual centrepiece of the entire story. Draped in luminous iridescent fabric and surrounded by transparent chairs, delicate glassware and sculptural florals, it captured and reflected the changing Mediterranean light throughout the day.

Additional elements were introduced to reinforce the narrative. A pastel-blue wedding cake adorned with delicate detailing, a custom pink cocktail bar set beneath towering palm trees and thoughtfully curated decorative pieces helped create a cohesive world where every element felt connected to the original inspiration.

What emerged was not simply a collection of beautiful details, but a complete visual language built from a single piece of fabric.

Fashion & Styling

Fashion played an important role in shaping the visual narrative of the editorial.

Rather than embracing conventional bridal styling, the fashion direction focused on individuality, ease and modern femininity. The looks were selected to complement the softness and luminosity of the design rather than compete with it.

A vintage-inspired dress by Véronique Branquinho brought a sense of effortless romance and character to the story, balancing delicacy with a quietly fashion-forward perspective. Accessories from Cult Gaia introduced a contemporary edge, reinforcing the editorial's dialogue between modern design and timeless elegance.

Equally intentional was the choice of footwear. Pearl-embellished ballet flats by Magda Butrym offered a refreshing alternative to traditional bridal heels, embodying a more relaxed and authentic vision of bridal style. Comfortable yet sophisticated, they reflected the editorial's broader philosophy: beauty found through ease, movement and personality rather than formality.

Together, the fashion elements helped shape an editorial that felt less like a traditional wedding and more like a modern celebration of style, creativity and self-expression.
